The subject of my creation is the sun, looked at through a random car part of my brothers that I found. This was taken out in the woods as the sun was shining through the trees. This photo was taken with my phone camera through the car part that I held up, focusing the lens on the lines that go through it. I chose to create this artwork because I found this interesting part, and was looking for a way to incorporate it into a photo. I then saw the sun peeking through the trees and decided to capture it in the photo. The specific elements and principles of design that I used in this photo are line, color, balance, and pattern. This photo is very balanced and central.

The composition rules and techniques that I used in this photo are formal balance since the subject is central in the image, selective focus on the end of the car part, leading lines because the lines in the car part lead your eyes to the sun, and framing since I framed the sun inside the part. My project evolved because at first my hand was in the shot and the viewer could see me holding it, so I cropped the photo so it only showed what is shown in the image. I also experimented with what I focused the lens on, to find different interesting shots.

The story behind this image is that there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel, so you just have to power through whatever is happening (not actually, lol). This relates to my life because I chose how to compose the image and took it on my own. I think my image could be stronger if I had cleaned the part a little or gotten more of the part in focus because there was some interesting writing on the front of it.
