The subject of this photo is a panda bear that is either eating or climbing the plant in front of it. The setting is supposed to be in its natural habitat, so I used the plant to act as bamboo or other large plant. This photo was made by walking around outside with miniatures, and finding areas to place them in to take a strong photo. To take the photo I used my Iphone camera. I chose to take this photo because I noticed that around the base of a light pole, these plants were growing and I though it would make an interesting photo. The elements and principles of design that I used in this photo are color, in all the vibrant greens; balance, since it isn't weighted on one side; contrast, of the panda standing out against the background; and pattern, in all of the small leaves. This photo is composed fairly centrally, making it balanced.

The composition rules and techniques I used in this photo are formal balance since it isn't weighted on one side, sharp focus since the whole image is in focus, and grouping/repetition in all of the small leaves that the panda is sitting in. This photo evolved because I was playing around with how zoomed in or out I was, and what I was focusing the lens on, finally choosing this one in the end.

The meaning behind the photo is that we need to make awareness for pandas because their populations are getting smaller and smaller, mostly due to the destruction of their habitat. This project relates to my life because in the past I have done many research projects relating to pandas in some way, so I have learned a lot about them. If I were to revise something in this photo I would capture more of the clovers in the frame instead of cutting them out half way.
