The subject of this artwork is my hand with a twisted rubber band around my fingers. To create this I used pencil to lightly sketch out the shape of my hand, I then went around and made the lines closest to me darker and the ones further away lighter, and finally I colored in the rubber band with red to make that more of the center of the piece. I created this artwork because it was the assignment. However, I used some elements and principles of design including line, color, value, contrast, and shape. I composed this art with the hand in the center of the paper as it was the most important.
I don't know what composition rules are. Since I was sketching in the beginning, my art was always changing to make the proportions better, and to get all of the details correct. In the end I decided to add the red to this to make it more interesting.
The meaning behind this artwork is to get better at making depth in line drawings. This project relates to my life because it is my hand so I see it and use it every day. This artwork could be made stronger by adding in designs in the background and making the proportions even better.
