Doodle for Google

This artwork is a part of the doodle for google competition that is held every year where students can submit a possible doodle to be displayed on their home page, based off of a prompt. This year the prompt was Kindness is... so I represented this with everybody in the doodle helping each other out or showing love/respect in some way. One guy is helping an older guy in a wheelchair get down the sidewalk, there is an older lady that is watering a plant, and there is a girl on the bench with her arms wrapped around each other, etc. I chose to make this because this was the first way I thought of in representing people being kind, its hard to make a list rather than just represent it, but I also wanted to have them be in the shape of the letters.

This was made by getting a template with the google logo on it, and shaping the people or object around the letters. I started with first two people on the left, then moved to the lady with the watering can, then I moved to the bush, and the hardest one to do was figure out what to put on the "e". After I had sketched it, I transferred it onto a different piece of paper using the light table and started by coloring in the people using colored pencil, trying to based them off the colors that the google logo has in it. Then I took a relatively thick micron pen and did most of the line work, going in with a thinner one after for details.

In this artwork, I used line because of the line work I did, as well as color and form in the different people, since I shaped them to the google logo. My project evolved because originally I thought I would make a different one where there were a bunch of blobs with faces all hugging each other, but I saw another girl doing something similar, so I decided to be more creative. I think my next steps would be to add more details to this using the pen, and possibly digitize it because I think it would look better if I made it on a computer.
