Contrast Leaves

The subject of my drawing could either be viewed as the sections that are filled with color, or the looked at by the individual leaves that are formed in the white space. I created this art by arranging leaves in a "view finder" until I found something that I liked. Then, I split the view finder and my paper into four section to make the transfer to larger paper easier. After, I began to sketch out the shapes of the leaves going over the final lines in sharpie. Finally I filled in the negative space in watercolor with all the colors that leaves can go through. In my art I used elements of art and principles of design such as line; in the outlining of the leaves, color; filling in the negative space, and contrast; between the bright colors and the plain white paper.

I haven't really been taught composition rules or techniques yet, so I am not sure if there are any included in this project. Throughout this project not much changed, as I had a image in my head of what it should look like and went off of that.

There is not much meaning behind this other than the colors in this piece were supposed to represent the colors of fall. This piece relates to me because I really enjoy fall when the leaves are starting to turn red and it is starting to get colder. This artwork reminding me of leaves that could have fallen to the ground. If I were to do this project again I would make the colors blend together better, and possibly do designs in ink on top of the color.
