COVID-19 Response

The idea with this piece is that currently the Corona Virus is controlling the world, keeping people inside and making people sick. This control, I decided to represent with the hands of a puppeteer. This relates to my life because I am experiencing this pandemic and can feel how controlling this virus has been.

To make this artwork, I decided to use Adobe Photoshop because I wanted to make a digital art piece to try something different from the acrylic that I had been doing a lot of. And to make it I imported photos of the earth and the virus so that I could trace it to get the image I was looking for.

To make this, I imported photos into Photoshop so that I could get an idea of what they looked like. Then, playing with the opacity of them so that i could see what I was doing, I traced over the the earth and the virus. Once I had the outlines, I then filled them in with color, using different values to get shadows and highlights. Then to finish it off, I added different textures to make it look more interesting. Originally, I was going to have a figure that was attached to the hands, but I quickly decided that it would be much more difficult to draw a person in photoshop than it would be to draw a virus, so I settled on this. I think my next steps could be to add more detail to the piece to make it a bit more interesting.
