Job Overview
A fast-growing Clean Energy FinTech platform is seeking an experienced Technical Project Lead to oversee the planning, design, coordination, and execution of large-scale engineering projects.
The organization enables distributed solar providers and energy consumers to access financing, system design tools, technical support, and supply-chain services that accelerate clean-energy adoption across Nigeria.
In this role, you will lead high-value deployments such as clean energy parks, EV charging infrastructure, commercial solar systems, mini-grids, and other strategic engineering initiatives. You will own end-to-end project delivery—managing technical design, field execution, vendor coordination, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
This role requires an engineering leader with strong project management expertise, excellent technical judgment, and the ability to drive complex energy projects to completion.
Lead full project lifecycle from concept → design → execution → commissioning → handover.
Develop detailed work plans, schedules, and project milestones.
Coordinate internal teams including Engineering, Procurement, Finance, QA/QC, Product, and Field Operations.
Align with external stakeholders—OEMs, EPCs, DISCOs, contractors, and regulators.
Conduct weekly progress reviews, risk assessments, and reporting.
Review and approve SLDs, BOQs, design layouts, and engineering documentation.
Ensure all designs comply with electrical standards, safety codes, and internal frameworks.
Lead feasibility studies, technical scoping sessions, and system modelling for special projects.
Validate technical requirements prior to procurement and mobilisation.
Oversee site preparation, construction activities, system installation, and integration.
Ensure First-Time-Right (FTR) execution, QA/QC compliance, and safety adherence.
Troubleshoot and resolve high-level technical issues during installation and commissioning.
Conduct inspections and sign off on project commissioning reports.
Manage technical alignment with EPCs, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
Support procurement in validating technical specifications for components and systems.
Lead site meetings, inspections, and joint commissioning with partners.
Ensure clear communication flow between all stakeholders.
Monitor budgets, expenditures, and change requests to prevent cost overruns.
Maintain accurate documentation across all project stages.
Ensure compliance with NERC standards, DISCO interconnection rules, HSE requirements, and internal quality policies.
Provide audit-ready documentation for internal and external reviews.
Facilitate communication between Product, Engineering, Finance, Customer Service, and Ops.
Ensure smooth alignment on timelines, project requirements, and technical dependencies.
Support onboarding and knowledge-sharing for internal teams.
Provide technical leadership to engineers, coordinators, installers, and contractors.
Mentor and develop team members on engineering, safety, and project execution standards.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Support recruitment, coaching, and performance development of project teams.
Drive documentation, knowledge sharing, and technical training across departments.
Prepare weekly progress reports covering milestones, risks, budgets, and next steps.
Maintain updated documentation (SLDs, BOQs, QA/QC reports, commissioning files).
Track KPIs across quality, timelines, compliance, and cost performance.
Escalate risks with clear corrective action recommendations.
Communicate key feedback from users, partners, and field teams to leadership.
Strong understanding of project lifecycle management.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
Risk assessment, mitigation planning, and resource allocation.
Strong quality assurance orientation.
Deep knowledge of solar PV systems, hybrid systems, EV charging infrastructure, and commercial energy systems.
Strong system modelling and design analysis skills.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and integration issues.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope, and project management tools.
Familiarity with regulatory standards (NERC, HSE, DEP compliance).
