Anticipatory Set
Describe the most recent time you used your laptop or phone in class.
Did it distract you or did it help in your learning? Digital education includes technology, but opinions on how much is too much vary. This lecture addresses how technology affects attention, teamwork, and learning in modern schools.
Description of the Concept
There are benefits and drawbacks to using electronics in the classroom. On the one hand, they give students access to the internet and a wealth of resources, enabling them to research interesting subjects and do homework quickly. Early technology use in the classroom can help children get ready for college and future careers where digital literacy will be crucial. In addition to keeping students interested, interactive learning environments like Jeopardy and Kahoot foster critical thinking and teamwork. Additionally, technology teaches students how to use software that is essential in the business, cooperate digitally, and share documents (Simpson & Simpson, 2025).
Pros and Cons of Classroom Devices
Pros:
Access to instant information and research opportunities.
Interactive learning through games, quizzes, and multimedia.
Preparation for digital skills needed in higher education and careers.
Cons:
Students may become distracted and less attentive during lessons.
Overreliance on technology can lead to reduced problem-solving skills and even academic dishonesty.
A loss of traditional learning practices such as handwriting and in-person collaboration.
As Pritchard (2024) notes, excessive screen time can negatively affect handwriting development and other fine-motor skills that support cognitive learning.
Example of a Successful Classroom
In a positive classroom with technology, there is equality, order, and participation. Teachers provide clear guidelines to help students stay focused, and students know when it's OK to use their devices. To maintain equity, all students should have equal access to technology. To make courses more interesting, teachers might also employ interactive techniques like games, surveys, and online forums. For students who prefer visual or self-paced study options, multimedia projects, movies, and creative presentations improve learning (Ganguly, 2025).
Lesson Closure
Technology can be an effective teaching tool, but moderation is essential. The most effective classes combine technology and interpersonal communication. Instead of allowing children to spend all of their time in front of screens, teachers encourage group projects, conversations, and creativity. Students' communication, reasoning, and teamwork abilities are strengthened when digital technologies are combined with in-person collaboration.

How I used AI
I used ChatGPT to help me organize my ideas about the pros and cons of devices in classrooms. It provided examples and structure that I then rewrote in my own words. I also asked for guidance on how to make my conclusion flow better and meet the Wiki book rubric.
Using AI made the writing process faster and helped me focus on my own analysis instead of formatting. It also helped me better understand both sides of technology’s impact on learning, which made my final lesson stronger overall.
using AI made the process much easier and more efficient. it helped me turn my ideas into full on paragraph's and gave me clearer understandings on many of the facts on this topic.
