The purpose of school is to prepare students for their future in society. It equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to go into the world and do great things. In my classroom, I will teach students how to work with one another to solve problems and how to overcome obstacles together. An important lesson that will be taught in my classroom is how to treat one another with respect and kindness, they will learn about acts of kindness and how to incorporate said actions into their daily lives. My students will value themselves and each other and will learn how to be compassionate and kind individuals. The way that I will interact with them is to teach a lesson, then let the students work with one another and apply what they have learned to solve problems. This way they are learning from each other as well as myself. I want my classroom to feel like we're exploring something new and exciting, that I am a tour guide essentially and we are all explorers and adventurers trying to discover new things.
If a visitor walked into my classroom, they would see a teacher with a more progressive style of teaching because I believe that it is important to teach students the power of collaboration and how to work well with a team to solve a problem. The visitor would see students in a flexible seating style where they get to decide where they feel more comfortable to work. They would also see students working well with each other and doing hands on activities. The classroom would feel warm and inviting, while also being an exciting place to learn.
How I used AI
I used Google Gemini to complete this assignment by asking it to describe the different educational philosophies and by asking it to generate images.
Prompts used
Help me learn about the five educational philosophies
If each educational philosophy were a superhero, what would be their superpowers?
Create an image of a teacher disguised as an explorer who is guiding her students through a forest of books and letters and numbers disguised as little explorers
Create an image of students working together to solve problems while being hands on and learning from one another. The classroom would have flexible seating where students get to decide where they want to learn and where is most comfortable to them.
My thoughts on AI
I think that AI can be a useful tool to shape learning, it has answers to a lot of questions and can answer the questions quickly, however it doesn’t replace a teacher, and it shouldn’t be incorporated too much into daily life. I do not see myself using AI in the future because I think that it can be used as a shortcut in many ways.

J.S: Hi, Jordan. I'm also the oldest, but it's only me and my younger sister. I like that you are using your background and experience as a child of military parents to show that change is okay and its good to go outside our comfort zones. I love your AI photo and that it represents how you will guide your students through exploring learning and discussing with one another.
Hello Jordan, I really enjoyed reading your page and learning about your passion for teaching first or second grade. I think it is wonderful how you emphasize kindness, respect, and collaboration in your classroom vision; those are values that will make such a positive impact on your students. I also liked how you described your classroom as a place for exploration and adventure, where students feel empowered to learn from one another. Your approach to flexible seating and teamwork shows that you are already thinking about how to create an engaging student-centered environment. -Tiffany Mapp
I love your AI-generated picture, and I loved your explanation for it; that you and your students are explorers trying new things. That mindset will make class very interesting for your students, knowing how much children like adventure. I also like how you mentioned that you want to prepare students for the world, and have them practice solving problems with their peers, so they are able to learn from them as well. And of course, teaching them kindness and respect goes a long way. - Zainab Al-Dhahi
Jordan, Your enthusiasm is so appreciated and I know will serve well in the classroom. I enjoyed your description and your image showing your educational philosophy. Your personal interests of volunteering, hiking and thrifting are indicators of some charactaristics that I have most admired in some of my best teachers : pragmatism, adventurousness and resourcefulness. I wish you the best going forward and look forward to learning with you. I'm also the oldest of 5! - Sunday Lovelady
Joshua Eaton: The layout of your page is wonderful. I also have two dogs, Sophie and Lilly. I admire your volunteer work, hiking, and thrifting. I look forward to working with you in class. Although my philosophy is a balance between Progressive and Essentialist thought, I respect your style of teaching and look forward to learn from other styles.
