Hi Taylor,
I think it’s great how your experiences in cheer, camp counseling, and your internship have already given you strong leadership skills and the ability to build respect with kids—that’s such a tremendous strength going into teaching. I also admire your honesty about wanting to grow in lesson planning and classroom management; I feel the same way, and I agree that our organization and compassion will help us figure it out. I really connected with your focus on inclusion and making sure every child feels supported. I love how you see your classroom as both structured and student-centered, blending progressivism and essentialism—it sounds like a space where students would feel safe, engaged, and excited to learn. You sound a lot like me and how I see my classroom in the future. P.S. loved your groovy background.

Hey Taylor! I too would love for my students to be comfortable in their classroom and comfortable asking for support. I believe that group work is a great way for students to learn to collaborate and to become confident in themselves. Fun and engaging lessons are the most beneficial in my opinion as well! I think that it is great that you are aware of your compassion and empathy, your students will surely benefit from that. Your prior experience with leadership will definitely reflect in your teaching as well! -Thalia Johnson
Taylor, Your energy and enthusiasm are fantastic for teaching! I understand how it feels daunting to imagine having a classroom of your own but I gather from your experiences so far, along with your solid understanding of your own strengths and areas of growth, you're going to do wonderful things with that time and space. I appreciate your desire to be a strong leader for children, you seem well on your way. I think what might surprise you as you get going is that you may find yourself a leader for other teachers as well. I'm looking forward to growing into being teachers together! Best wishes to you going forward. - Sunday Lovelady
