1. Define What a Magnet School Is
2. Explain Why Attending a Magnet School Is Beneficial to Students
3. Describe How Magnet Schools Started and Continue to Include Diversity
Have you ever wanted to learn more about your passions in school?
All of these topics are different types of educational themes that are involved in magnet school curriculum. These schools provide specialized learning opportunities for a diverse range of students. They attract a wide variety of socio-economic statuses and learning levels. Magnet schools can give students the extra support in certain subjects that may be passionate about.
Magnet schools are public schools that revolve around educational-themed curriculum and include students from all types of zip codes (Magnet Schools of America, n.d.). The goal of magnet schools is to create a focus on racial diversity and increased academic performance (Wang et al., 2018). Because these schools are open to all types of students, families have the chance to attend magnet schools through a lottery system. Due to high demand, this lottery system consists of being placed into a system where you can be chosen to attend the school or remain in lottery for the next year. As mentioned in the survey, magnet schools have specialized curriculum to enhance an emphasis on learning and passion (Magnet Schools of America, n.d.). Magnet schools also follow state and county curriculum, but often tend to excel in academics due to the incorporated programs and extra focus on core and passion subjects.

This is me my first day of second grade (first day of magnet school)!
My Experince at a Magnet School
I attended Hunters Woods Elementary School in Northern VA. Through projects, STEM focus, endless performances and more, it truly was the most amazing experience. The connections made within the specialized curriculum improved my social skills, created a strong educational foundation, and sparked passions within me and my peers.
What We Learned...
According to Magnet Schools of America, “positive integration imparts life skills that reach well beyond the classroom” (n.d.). This provides students with the experience of having diversity in the classroom, which ultimately leads to growth outside of the classroom. Including integration in content and schools provides an opportunity for those within different socio-economic backgrounds to excel and improve achievement in the community (George et al., 2023, p.3). Based on my observations, this can fight stereotypes and break the cycles of poverty in the community. Starting as a tool to end segregation, magnet schools have shifted to providing equal opportunities for all different types of students and building the foundation for strong citizens

How I used AI
I used an AI chatbot (CHATGPT) to check my in-cite citations. I also used Google Gemini to create AI images to help the audience stay engaged with my lesson. The AI was very minimal and only used to polish and correctly format my work and citations. This helped me to correct my work and learn what mistakes I may have made and how I can improve in the future. I also used the provided rubric assignment to help make minor tweaks to flow my writing better and fix possible errors within my work. Ultimately, the use of AI did help polish my lesson and served as a very useful tool in the process of this assignment.
