My niece and nephews
My husband and I
Who I am
I was born and raised in California, I have always enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. I have grown up to be the family babysitter. In middle school and in high school I had two teachers who made me realize I wanted to become a teacher and give the same encouragement and change an educational career for a student.
What I know
I have worked as an enrichment leader in California and I have learned that most kids just want to be heard and know that they have someone that is willing to help them accomplish and succeed in school.
What I have to learn
I feel that, though I know what I am being taught with all these classes will be useful, but i also feel that I will learn more being a teacher and with each student I have in a classroom.
The teacher I will become (Note. Be sure you completed the “Using AI to explore your Educational Philosophies” introduced in class before submitting this section.)
I would like to become a teacher that can help my students enjoy school and as well as help them grow and learn. I was to create a positive and safe learning environment for all students. I also want to create a student centered classroom.
Which of the 5 philosophies described in class best describe your views on teaching?
I believe that out of the 5 philosophies, progressivism would be the best one to describe me as a teacher and my beliefs. I believe this because the two teachers I had that encouraged me to become a teacher were because they always allowed us to be heard and worked with us not us work with them. They allow us to learn based on our abilities.
How I Used AI and My Current Thoughts About It
I feel that it is a grown tool and I do not like using AI because i feel personally I can not learn using AI. but it is a useful tool for simple non educational reasons.
Hello Eli! I also was the family babysitter! I have two younger sisters and about one million little cousins, so me and my sister were the default babysitters. After a while, I went through an era where I didn't like kids anymore because of how much I was babysitting! I eventually came to my senses though, I'm so good with kids and I care about them so much it only feels right that I become an educator! - Ca'Leah Shuler
Hey Eli! After viewing your page we share a lot of similarities! I too was influenced by my teachers which led me to want to pursue education. We both also found that progressive education best fit us as future educators. I see that you were born and raised in Cali so what are you doing in VA? -Danae' Monroe
Hi Eli! I really relate to what you said about children just wanting to be heard, that alone is such a powerful truth. When kids feel listened to, they gain the confidence to take risks and grow, and I can see that you're fostering this environment. I believe your future students will flourish with you as their teacher because you’ll not only guide them but also learn alongside them. - Emily Mongold
