"They don't answer much anyways, it's just because he's a boy. Oh, he's always like that, I'm sure he gets it. It's math, boys are naturally good at math anyways." Imagine being overlooked and under served in a classroom, learning environment because of your gender and the assumptions made about it. Every student deserves equal and adequate schooling no matter gender, race, or status. What I discovered is there are a lot of biases in teaching as it relates to gender, and boys are impacted by it the most. This impact has a lasting effect on their education, job opportunities, and life. Follow me on this journey to unpacking and resolving teaching boys.

My lesson on teaching boys focuses on how teachers can create and maintain a more equitable classroom that fosters success for boys. Examines the problem with gender biases, attitudes, and expectations in the classroom. And proves that creating an imbalance in boys’ motivation is harmful to their education and long-term academic and economic success. By recognizing and eliminating biases, and by highlighting positive relationships and expectations for students, we can improve gender equality and promote greater success among boys in the classroom.
