Exploring Technology Soft Tech Summative

Well here we go!!

This is it, the home stretch of our term is here.

SUMMATIVE OBJECTIVES

The objective of the summative is to give each student the opportunity to demonstrate ALL the skills acquired during the course of the semester. Think of it as a product-driven "final exam" that reviews all aspects of the course, but is open book, and lasts about two weeks instead of a couple of hours.

• This project should DEMONSTRATE an appropriate range and depth of the SKILLS you've acquired from the course

• This project should attempt to create a USEFUL and INNOVATIVE product

• This project MUST be FEASIBLE and completed given the time constraints and limited resources of the lab

Grade 9 Soft Tech Summative

YOUR TASK (option A)

Create a new WEBSITE intended to introduce or explain a current Technology related topic to a specific target audience. It should include ORIGINAL and APPROPRIATE combinations of the media and skills you learned in this term:

• Include each of the following types of media:

  • Photoshop: JPG graphics, Logos and Titles

  • Photography: BLT&F

  • 3D Modelling and/or CAD

  • Flash Animation

  • Original recorded Audio

  • Sketch up

YOUR TASK (option B)

Create a new WEBSITE intended to introduce or explain a current ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. Your research should be focused on an issue that you feel people should know about and the long term effects if we don't do anything about it. The second part of your research should be focused on some steps we could take in order to reverse the issue or reduce it's harmful effects. It should include ORIGINAL and APPROPRIATE combinations of the media and skills you learned in this term:

• Include at LEAST four of the following types of media:

  • Photoshop: JPG graphics, Logos and Titles

  • Photography: BLT&F

  • 3D Modelling/CAD

  • Flash Animation

  • Original recorded Audio

  • Sketch Up

STEP 2 - CREATE A NEW WEBSITE

• Be sure it follows ALL the principles of setup, security and proper design from our googlesite guidelines

• Clearly LINK to your new summative website from your portfolio, and link back to your portfolio as well

• Develop your summative on the new google sites. This is to be an entirely SEPARATE website from your own portfolio website.

STEP 3 - Use the DESIGN CYCLE

4. EVALUATE your progress, your effectiveness, and how much time you have to refine and complete your work before the deadline
