The announcement should be exactly 30 (or exactly 20) seconds long and edited using Audacity. It should skillfully mix 3 sources of sound:
Recorded dialogue (Record YOUR voice using the proper techniques in audacity - be sure to avoid clipping, plosives and distortion)
Prepare a Script
Clearly identify the "Who What When Where and Why" of the event
Determine the ideal DURATION (Default - 15 seconds)
Test read your script and time it
Check your script with your Client
Email the script to them
Ensure that the message you're sending is accurate
Record your Dialogue
Use your portable device to record the dialogue FROM YOUR SCRIPT
Use an EXAGGERATED tone of voice!
"Test Record" to determine if the duration is too long or short
Edit for your TIMING and VOLUME levels
Use Audacity and the appropriate MIXING tools to adjust the quality, timing, volume envelopes
Carefully adjust for the PACING and VOLUME that would appeal most to the listening audience
EXPORT the WAV or MP3, Submit it for marking, and upload it to SoundCloud to EMBED IT it in your portfolio
Create a NEWS REPORT: Fabricate a news event that would appeal to JMSS students and staff. Write a short script and record it. Add appropriate sound effects and music! Edit it so that it's exactly 30 seconds in length.
