"The 17-page study, titled “2013 State of Online Gaming Report,” pulled data from a variety of sources like comScore and eMarketer to find that 17 percent of the world's population play games. It also found that 44 percent of the world's online population are gamers. "
Do you play video games? Chances are you do, or someone in your family does. Now when asked "Do you play video games?" what you need to remember is that any game you play on your phone, computer, or device at home is a video game. It doesn't have to be fortnite or Call of Duty to be a video game.
"Every age has its storytelling form, and video gaming is a huge part of our culture. You can ignore or embrace video games and imbue them with the best artistic quality. People are enthralled with video games in the same way as other people love the cinema or theatre."
Andy Serkis
Using the program Construct, we will create our very own video game. I understand if you want to build something different and unique, but for our first time building lets all follow the same steps and outline. Once you have completed this first project, we can get into something more personalized.
Your first step is to go to the website ww.construct.net and make an account. Please use your school email, and as always use a password you can easily remember.
Fill in the information! Use your school e-mail, make a simple easy to remember password, and be sure to ask your parents permission to use the website. I'm sure they won't mind but ask them tonight to make sure.
Once you have created an account, log in, and click the button that says
"Launch Construct 3"
Once you've launched Construct 3, all of a sudden there's a lot going on! Don't worry, one more click of the mouse and you're ready to go.
Look for the grey box that says "Beginners Guide" click on it!
Once you have clicked on "Beginner's Guide" you are ready to go! You are on the first page of our tutorial!
Simply follow the instructions on screen, scroll down, once you're done that page click next, and keep going!!
Once you have created a new project and named it, your properties bar may not be visible. The properties bar should be on the left side of your screen. It will show you the properties of whatever you have clicked on. You will need it to adjust the properties of your background, sprites, and everything else!
Go to MENU - VIEW - BARS - PROPERTIES BAR
"Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock'n'roll."
