ANIM8OR ONLINE MANUAL

3D Modelling

We will be using the program ANIM8OR to complete our 3D Modelling unit. There are a few steps you must take to properly install the program on your computer. Once you have completed these steps, please follow the instructions on how to create your flying saucer.

Anim8or Setup

Resources - get Anim8or up and running!

  • Download ANIM8OR v100 and put it in the appropriate TIJ1O folder on your P: Drive.

    • Right-Mouseclick the ZIP file and EXTRACT ALL to your P: drive

    • Note - the tutorials are based on earlier versions of ANIM8OR, but they generally work the same way. New features of Anim8or 100 are

      • Tapping the ALT key toggles ARC-ROTATE mode

      • X-Y-Z can be toggled using the RIGHT mouse button

      • Point-Line-Face can be toggled with the RIGHT mouse button

Try using ANIM8OR NOW

If it's working for you, you can begin modelling.

If things don't seem to be working properly, you might want to double check the settings below:

Setup Tips

Shown here are the best "default" settings for you to use this tutorial. Check your copy of Anim8or to see that the settings are turned on properly

Use the dropdown menu and locate

FILE | CONFIGURE UI

Toggle the settings as shown here; It's ESSENTIAL to activate the following:

    • SHOW GRID,

    • SHOW LABELS,

    • SHOW AXIS

Use the dropdown menu and locate OPTIONS

Be sure "Tool Tips" is on. This will display the name of whatever tool you're hovering over in the bottom left corner of the window

Use the dropdown menu and locate VIEW - PREFERENCES

IF you are creating ANIMATIONS, limiting the playback framerate can help. Match the settings shown here.

CHOOSE the correct Anim8or MODE from the control panel

Your panel must match the settings you see here:

  1. OBJECT edit mode

  2. ALL AXES (X Y and Z) enabled

  3. SCREEN Coordinates is the default reference for rotation

Next up, time to start modelling!!
