Onshape is a CAD product development platform that unites CAD, data management, collaboartion tools and real time analytics. We use it in grades 9-10 to design products we're going to build!
Onshape is free for educational use and works "in the cloud" so we can use it on a Chromebook, at home or any place we have internet access. Let's get started with a few tutorials; It will speed up our learning.
This is the first of a five part tutorial. be sure to view all 5!
Part 2 is here
After watching the tutorials lets try our hand at making a project. With Onshape you can design parts and assemblies of parts and place them into Design Drawings. The design drawings will contain orthgraphic views and isometric views. Dimensioning can be done on the orthographic views. Finally your drawings may be exported to PDF's and uploaded to your websites.
Let's make this part as our first exercise. A dimensioned drawing is here.
