Sixth Form

In Sixth Form, you will have acquired a good understanding of IT and Computer Science. If these subjects interest you, a career in technology could be for you.
The technology industry is very broad and ever changing - now is a good time to research the different opportunities in more depth.

Should do

  • Visit the Success at School Digital and Technology page to find our more about what this sector involves.

  • Use UCAS and Unifrog to research the grades you need to a technology related subject at university

  • Regularly check the careers google classroom for any technology related opportunities, such as online university lectures or workshops.

Could do

  • Mentor younger students in a related subject, such as IT or Computer Science, as one of your Super Curricular activities - this will demonstrate your interest and enthusiasm to potential universities and employers. Speak to your teachers about this.

  • Start an IT or Computer Science club for your peers or younger students.

  • Develop commercial awareness by researching the technology sector, the sectors you would work with, and the key contemporary issues. This is an ever changing sector, so it's very important that you keep up to date.

  • Undertake work experience in a relevant environment to demonstrate your interest in this areas.

  • Attend lecture series in school related to technology.

  • Listen to technology podcasts such as Accidental Tech or Analog(ue).

  • Read books, magazines or journals around technology, such as Stuff or Computer Active.
