In Sixth Form, you will be confident in your interests and possible career paths. Banking and finance careers are varied, and so researching the different areas is crucial in making the best decision for you.
A career in accountancy is compatible with an interest in Maths, Business and Economics.

Should do

  • Use UCAS and Unifrog to research banking and finance degrees and careers, and the different pathways into accountancy.

  • Use UCAS and Unifrog to research the grades you need to study banking and finance at degree level.

  • Read the Banking and Finance page on Success at School to learn more about the career pathway.

  • Regularly check the careers google classroom for any banking and finance related opportunities, such as online university lectures or workshops.



Could do

  • Mentor younger students in Maths, Economics or Business Studies as one of your Super Curricular activities - this will demonstrate your interest and enthusiasm to potential universities and employers. Speak to your teachers about this.

  • Start a Maths, Economics or Business Studies club for your peers or younger students.

  • Develop commercial awareness by researching the business you wish to work in, the sectors you work with, and the key business issues.

  • Undertake work experience at a relevant company to demonstrate your interest in banking and finance.

  • Attend lecture series in school related to accountancy.

  • Listen to banking and finance related podcasts, such as Bloomburg Surveillance or CNBC Fast Money

  • Read books, magazines or journals around banking and finance, such as The Financial Times or The Banker
