Sixth Form

Studying business studies or economics at degree level can open the doors to numerous careers and industries. In Sixth Form, it's a great time to research these industries in more depth, and the different pathways into them.

A career in an business or economics is compatible with an interest in Business Studies, Economics or Maths.

Should do

  • Use UCAS and Unifrog to research business and economics degrees and careers, and the different pathways into these sectors.

  • Use UCAS and Unifrog to research the grades you need to study business and economics at degree level.

  • Read through the Success at School page on Business Management and Entrepreneurship to find out more about the career.

  • Regularly check the careers google classroom for any business and economics related opportunities, such as online university lectures or workshops.

Could do

  • Mentor younger students in Economics, Maths or Business Studies as one of your Super Curricular activities - this will demonstrate your interest and enthusiasm to potential universities and employers. Speak to your teachers about this.

  • Start an Economics, Maths or Business Studies club for your peers or younger students.

  • Develop commercial awareness by researching the business you wish to work in, the sectors you work with, and the key business issues.

  • Undertake work experience at a relevant company to demonstrate your interest in business and economics .

  • Attend lecture series in school related to business and economics.

  • Listen to business and economics related podcasts, such as Business Daily and Business Matters.

  • Read books, magazines or journals around business and economics, such as The Economist.
