In years 9, 10 & 11 you will start looking at your options and what career path you would like to take. The Banking and finance sectors offer a wide variety of different roles. The banking industry splits into investment banks and retail banks. The finance sector has many different areas including insurance, pensions as well as wealth management.

  • Visit Unifrog and UCAS to explore how a banking and finance degree or apprenticeship is structured.

  • Visit the National Careers Service website to discover specific careers related to banking and finance

  • Visit Student Ladder to explore work experience opportunities in the field of banking and finance. Also contact local firms and banks to discuss placement opportunities.

  • Use the Student Money Manual to learn more about personal finances and budgeting. This will aid your understanding of finance and technical terms related to the industry.

  • Use Unifrog to take a MOOC in accountancy to ensure your knowledge of this area.

  • Use the Bank of England website to explore financial markets and their significance

  • Visit the British Banker's Association website and familiarise yourself with policies and technical documents to understand how the industry works.

  • Take part in competitions related to this field run by the London Institute of Banking and Finance.
