Art is a means to express one’s self. In years 7 and 8 many pupils will explore and are introduced to a range of ways in which the creative arts can be expressed. Through art and design; painting, drawing, sculpting to within, computing; digital art as well as English, drama and the spoken word.
Attend a club related to the creative arts- this could include Drama Club, Music Society or Art Club which are all available at school.
Take part in performance evenings at school- this could involve acting, singing, being involved in set design or helping with marketing.
Visit galleries and the theater to become knowledgeable about different styles.
In lesson, ensure that you are speaking to your teachers about how they became involved in the creative arts and ask for regular feedback on your work to ensure that you are making progress.
Attend a 'Future Fellows' talk delivered by our Sixth Form students.
Attend a lecture series related to Creative Arts in school.
Visit Unifrog and read through the different educational routes into the Arts in the Careers and Subject Libraries.
When visiting galleries and the theater, investigate if they offer any workshops that you could take part in to enhance your knowledge and skills. Most places have information on their websites so do check.
Try a future artists course with the UAL (University of Arts London).
Visit the IntoFilm website to search for competition and activities related to careers within media.
Read the blogs on the Arts Council England website and write down your own thoughts in a journal.
