Shane McMenamy was a six-time letterwinner in golf and earned three letters in hockey. Shane was a member of the State Hockey Champion teams in 1996, 1997, and 1998, and was named to the All-State Team and All-Tournament team in 1998. In golf, Shane was the individual State Champion in 1994 and 1996, was a member of the State Championship Teams from 1994 through 1997, and was named the North Dakota Non-School Athlete of the Year in 1997. Shane won the North Dakota State Amateur Championship in 1994 and 1996, a US Junior Amateur Championship in 1996, and Grand Forks All-City Championship in 1998. He played golf at Arizona State University from 1999-2002, and was a member of the golf team that won and set the Pac-10, now Pac-12, scoring record in 2001, a record which still stands today.
