Patty Purpur deVries was the North Dakota State Discus Champion from 1982-1985, and the State Shot Put Champion from 1983-1985. Patti was named EDC All-Conference for five consecutive years, while earning honors from Adidas, the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, North Dakota APSSA, and the Grand Forks Herald. Patti earned a full athletic scholarship to Stanford University, and was a nine-time NCAA All-American. She was a 1988 Olympic Trials Qualifier in the discus, and was the 4th ranked shot putter in the United States in 1988. Patti was inducted into the North Dakota Sports Hall of 2002, and the North Dakota High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
