As a 1985 graduate of Red River High School, Scott Marquardt was one of the most accomplished multi-sport athletes of his time, excelling in football, basketball, and track & field. Known for his athleticism, leadership, and consistency, Scott earned eight varsity letters, football (3), basketball (3), and track (2). On the football field, Scott was a standout performer, earning All-EDC and All-City honors in both 1984 and 1985, and was named the Sportscaster Football Player of the Year in 1985. His talent seamlessly translated to the basketball court, where he again earned All-EDC and All-City recognition in both 1984 and 1985, and was selected to the Class A All-State Basketball Team his senior year. He capped off his senior season by being named the Sportscaster Basketball Player of the Year, one of the few athletes to receive the honor in two major sports in the same year. Scott also contributed to Red River’s success in track and field, earning two varsity letters during his career. His athletic excellence extended beyond individual sports as he was named Red River High School Athlete of the Year as a sophomore, junior, and senior. In 1985, he was also honored with the U.S. Army Reserve Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, recognizing both his athletic and academic accomplishments.
