The project we are working on is geology such as rock layers of our region. We are also learning about the different Era’s in our region and what they were like. We will put our research into a clay model of the rock layers and the Era’s.
My goal in science is to give better feedback that relates to geology, rock layers and other relative things. In my group I want to be able to give good feedback to help others improve their work and to improve our work project. By giving good feedback and thinking about ways to improve I can learn how to give better feedback quickly and nicely. I can do this by thinking about giving feedback when listening to others.
One example of my work is the starburst lab. In the starburst lab we were trying to make different rocks and demonstrate how they form. One example of us doing this is when we put the starburst into a plastic bag, then we put it into a cup of warm water to make magma.
Another example of my work is the plate tectonic lab. In this lab we used gram crackers to be the crusts and frosting for under the crusts. We first used the crackers to example the converging and diverging crusts. Then we put the crackers on top of the frosting and made the crackers wet. After we did that we smashed them against each other to form mountains!
So far in our class we have learned so much about earth rocks. I will be showing you some examples of when we did this and some things that we have learned. One thing that we worked on in our exhibition is understanding of geology. There is so much we learned about in geology such as erosion and rock formation. One thing I like is learning about erosion. Erosion is when water erodes rocks like the grand canyon and many canyons. We put all of our learning into our exhibition. I will be talking about my presentation skills. There were many effective thighs that we made and did but there were also things that we could have improved on. Our diagram of the rock layers was very effective in showing all the information and made all the colors of the rock layers right. When we were presenting this we interacted with the people who came by telling some about how we made things and letting them feel the rough ground that we actually used dirt for and paint mixed. The people who were there said everything looked great and was neat. Overall the geology part of the exhibition felt good. I am very proud of how our diagram turned out and looked. Though I thought it looked good, our group could have worked better together and as a team instead of two people agreeing then one person disagreeing and being very doubtful.
On this we made a one pager to shows to parents and people watching our project. We made this on canva then we talked a lot about lunar eclipses, the learning target and more. This was a partner project however I made it. One of my partners designed it but I did all of the research.
This was our Research document, on this we put all of our plans, games, links and research. We highlighted what we did in this to get separate grades than our partner. All my work is highlighted in green and would have a lot more if I could Highlight the build.
On this we went on a virtual field trip to the ISS. We watched a video of a guy doing cool things, he also got to go in a plane like thing and feel almost zero gravity. Then we watched a video of a lady going into the ISS and giving us a tour. She showed us many things like the bathroom, where they put their food, study rooms, bedrooms, and more.
Me and my partner raised money and donated it to One Tree Planted. Overall we raised 16o dollars.
For this project me and Rhyse did it about deforestation. My partner and I worked very well with each other, we got it done fast and even took the time to memorize our script. We understood what we both wanted to do and split up the work fast. I think we put a lot of effort into this assignment and we were very proud of how much money we earned and our action plan. We were mainly proud of our action plan and how it played out. From this project I learned a lot about working with a team and working with one partner. It's easier to split it up while talking about what you're doing and always agree on things. You also have to learn how to decide who is doing what in the project. Although we worked great and almost had no problems we did have some trouble with the bake sale. The brownies wouldn't come out of the pan and we broke some things trying to get it out...but overall we had no problems or difficulty. I think our action plan was very effective, but if I were to change anything maybe go to a place that was more busy for the bake sale. Me and Rhyse originally envisioned that we were going to plant trees in our community but that was way too complicated to do. So instead we donated our money to a place called one tree planted. Every dollar is one tree planted, overall we got $160 dollars donated in total from the bake sale, posters, and Facebook posts.
For this project we researched 10 different places all around the world in towns and talked about the weather, elevation, latitude, longitude, and more. Then we placed them on a map.
After we made the map, we then made a smaller poster about one place we researched on the map. My place was Shete,Aruba, In the Caribbean. I added things from the map, and I also added fun facts!
