Goal Reflection:
I think that I have accomplished my goal by giving good feedback to others. I think by doing my goal I got better at respect by being respectful and listening to the people that I am giving my feedback to. I think that I gained the skill of giving feedback even though the easy thing would be to say "You did great." One way I did this is when somebody was presenting their practice exhibition to me and instead of saying you did great I gave them feedback. So far I think I'm doing great on my goal for respect.
My goal for respect is to give good feedback to others that can be learned from.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for Respect...
I can think of what others could improve on then tell them as feedback. While I am watching others presentation I can think if ways to give feedback
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me...
Looking through their work and noticing what they could work on.
Telling them politely what they could improve on
The difference it will make is...
Others improving on their work from what I told them.Me improving on my skills of giving feedback
At the beginning of the year, my goal for respect was to acknowledge others' perspectives and agree diplomatically.
I understood my goal to mean, that instead of just saying “no” or “that’s a bad idea” I should disagree kindly or find an agreement in the middle of what we both want.
One example of me doing this is on our Adaptations of the First Americans when one of my partners wanted to build a different house than me, so we decided to make a totally different house and also ask our other partner.
By the end of this year, I was doing this more and more. Another example was in our science exhibition when we all wanted to do different things so I said that we could all put our thoughts into it. In the end everybody got what they wanted and all ideas were incorporated like the video game.
Goal reflection:
I think that I did well at my goal though I could have done better. I did good at not missing any homework assignments and getting them all in on time. I could have done way better at picking up trash when nobody told me to or said anything about it. I did not really do that goal and now that I notice that next time I can do better at that goal. One example of me doing all the assignments that I needed to was when I was sick for a weak. Nobody told me to complete them but I still did them anyway. When I got back I was totally caught up and had no work that was missing. Again I think I could have improved more but overall I think I accomplished half my goal.
My goal for integrity is to try to have more integrity by helping when no one asks me to.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for Integrity…
If I ever see a lot of trash on the ground I can pick it up and throw it away when no one asks me to.
If I have homework due and nobody tells me I can do it then turn it in.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me...
Picking up trash and throwing it away when no teachers ask me to.
Others will see me completing my work instead of playing games.
The difference it will make is...
It will make me feel better about myself and helping people. It will also help with the cleanness.
I can have everything on time and will not get in trouble.
At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated integrity by trying to always do the right thing, to try to never do anything wrong. One example is the Adaptations of the First American exhibition in humanities. I worked with my group to decide what I was going to make including the clothes they made, food, Houses, and helped out as much as I could. I told my group I would help out and do what I told them I would do.
I understood integrity to mean doing the right thing when nobody's watching or telling you to. To understand that just because somebody doesn’t tell you to do a specific task, you can still do it.
By the end of this year, I realized integrity meant more. One of the biggest things I realized it meant was honesty. Integrity can be hard for some people, I came to Mountain not even knowing what Integrity means. One example of a project where I was showing honesty was in the Science Exhibition planning document. I told my group I would make the model, do the vision for the exhibition, and write about the sketch and design of the project we built. I wrote small paragraphs for each of these, and spent a while on making the model.
Goal reflection:
I think that on my goal for effort I did good but then again I could have done better. I did not fail a lot but when I did I don't think a lot of the times I went back and figured out what I could do to improve it. One time when I decided to look at my failure as an opportunity to grow it was when I got a problem wrong on the homework and I went back and looked at what I did wrong and then looked back at what I could have done better. Though I did my goal I should have done it way more to help me improve.
I should see failure as an opportunity to grow and learn from my mistakes.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for effort…
When I fail I should see where I went wrong and try to solve it.
When I fail I can commit by knowing that I can practice to make more progress on what I need to work on.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me...
Going over my work that I may have gotten wrong and changing things.Improving on my work by going through and trying to practice to get better.
The difference it will make is...
It will show that if I practice more I can improve on my work.
I will show that even if I fail I can use it as a reminder to grow on what I need to work on.
At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated effort by trying my hardest on all subjects, project, respect, and more.I understood effort to mean trying your hardest on your work and how well you did on it. One example of when I used effort a lot was in the columbian exchange cafe which was the last exhibition of the sixth grade year. One of the projects I put a lot of effort in was my menu for the exhibition. I tried hard to find ingredients that were one of the most important in what I was making. I also put a lot of effort into designing things and making it easy to read.
By the end of this year, I realized even more how much effort is, and how important it is to me. I always try to put as much effort as I can into things. One example of effort was a travel brochure for somebody traveling the Mayan area. I included things like vegetation, Mayan sites in the area, weather,Artifacts, and more. This project was one of my favorites, designing was fun as well as putting the information in. Instead of putting two to four sentences I put even more and tried my hardest to put in as much information as I could.
Goal reflection:
I think on my goal for refinement I did really well. When others gave me feedback I took that feedback and I tried to put it into my work and improved it. One example of when I did this is when I was practicing my exhibition and the person watching gave the feedback of pointing to things when I was talking. When I took the feedback and used it in my work I got a better grade. I think that before I set my goal I was not good at this skill but now I am much better than before.
My goal for Refinement is to My goal for refinement is to accept feedback from others better.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for Refinement….
I can accept others' feedback so it can help me improve my work.I can use their feedback and next time remember to change what I could improve on.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me...
The difference it will make is...
Accepting their feedback and changing my work to match their feedback.I can make sure that Instead of just saying that I will actually change it.
The difference it will make is...
I can improve on my work so it's the best possible.
I can also learn to better accept peoples feedback and know that I should accept others feedback.
At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated refinement by trying to see any small mistakes, or anything that needed to be changed. One example of this was the argumentative essay. In this assignment we had to write an essay about an argument we were assigned, mine was if homework was beneficial or not, which I argued it was.I needed to go over my research and see if it matched the quotes that I got. I also needed to make sure that the text that I put in was correct and go through where I was researching.
I understood refinement to mean only looking at small things in writing assignments.
By the end of this year, I looked at other things to refine as well. One example is in the yearbook SIG. After I made the page I needed to check that everything was spelled right and that my pictures were connected on the topic. There were also things I needed to include on my page that needed a lot of refinement like if any parts of photos were going to be cut off.
I think that the more I perform the more my confidence builds up. I think the student lens matches 6th grade really well because you're just getting to be more confident with your work and projects.
