This week students will be making connections with other texts and their own experiences. Students will also continue to focus on reading fluently.
This week students will continue to explore the organisational structure of Narrative writing, and use this understanding to help retell stories.
This week students will be practising rounding to the nearest ten, by seeing which ten numbers are closer to. They will also estimate groups of objects and check their estimate by using various counting strategies. Students will continue to explore measurement by ordering and comparing the weight (mass) of various objects.
In Spelling this week, we will be focusing on the following:
Spelling choices and rules:

Review sounds: ar (e.g. car, star) ,_y (e.g. puppy); _ey (e.g. key)
Suffix rule double, adding 'ing' (e.g. 'swim' becomes 'swimming')

Child writes the word, saying each sound as he/she writes.
Draw child’s attention to the target phonic pattern.
Help child choose the correct spelling pattern if there are options.

In Grammar this week, we are focusing on adjectives.

This week we will be learning about respect from Aboriginal perspectives.
Books and resources authored by Aboriginal authors and artists provide opportunities for children to learn from Aboriginal perspectives. We will be looking at two texts throughout the week to support conversations around some of the ways people can show respect for themselves, for other people and for Country.
