Learning this Week 

READING: (Fluency and Comprehension)

This week students will focus on the comprehension strategy of inferring when reading. We will also continue to practise reading aloud with fluency.

WRITING: (Poetry)

This week students will continue to explore poetry and focus on cinquain and acrostic poems.

MATHS: (Money and Data)

This week students will continue to learn about money and practise calculating small amounts of money. Students will also learn about and compare data representations.

Spelling and Grammar

In Spelling this week, we will be focusing on the following: 

• Spelling choices, rules and skills:

-Spelling words with the triagraph 'air'(hair),  '_are' (beware, '_ear' (bear)

-We will also focus on reading and spelling words with two syllables

• Tricky word: surprise

 At home, you can support your child by doing the following activities: 

• Child writes the word, saying each sound as he/she writes.

• Draw child’s attention to the target phonic pattern.

• Help child choose the correct spelling pattern if there are options.

We will also be focusing on the word surprise

At home, you can support your child by doing the following activities: 

• Child writes the word several times, saying each letter name as he/she writes.

• Child writes a sentence using the target word.

In Grammar this week, we will review nouns, pronouns, adjectives and noun groups

** Differentiated learning will be present in each class to cater for all students individual learning requirements.
