This week we will be identifying the author’s purpose and opinion in a persuasive text, and we will look at the features of a persuasive text. We will continue to focus on reading texts aloud fluently.
This week students will continue to focus on writing narrative texts. They will practise their skills in spelling, editing and revising when writing.
This week students will be practising their mental strategies for addition problems, specifically building to 10 and doubles.
In Spelling this week, we will be focusing on the following:
Spelling choices for /ī/ - ‘igh’, ‘y’, ‘i_e’
Tricky words: something, ask, what
At home, you can support your child by doing the following activities:
Child writes the word, saying each sound as he/she writes.
Draw child’s attention to the target phonic pattern.
Help child choose the correct spelling pattern if there are options.
We will also be focusing on the words woman, home, where. At home, you can support your child by doing the following activities:
Child writes the word several times, saying each letter name as he/she writes.
Child writes a sentence using the target word.

This week, our Friendology lesson is called 'Kind & Strong'.
We will be:
- reviewing and highlighting the key friendship skills students learned throughout the sessions
-reflecting on how kindness & strength work together to protect our mental health & wellbeing
-demonstrating self-awareness + social-awareness (empathy) by deepening their connections with classmates
