Reason for diverse society
In your opinion, why is Singapore becoming an increasingly diverse society? Explain your answer with reference to two reasons.
One reason why Singapore is getting more diverse is because there are many foreigners coming to Singapore to work and live. The presence of economic opportunities and a stable social environment in Singapore made them attracted to Singapore. [Description and example] As they come to live and work in Singapore, they bring along their practices unique to their country of origin, contributing to the greater diversity in Singapore. [Explanation]
Another reason why Singapore is getting more diverse is because there is a growing acceptance of inter-racial marriages in Singapore. As Singapore is highly racially and religiously harmonious and has zero tolerance for racial discrimination, more children of different racial groups are studying in the same schools and working in the same workplaces. This led to them falling in love and getting married.[Description and example] As the children born to an inter-racial marriage have to experience both sets of traditions, and customs from their parents, they contribute to the greater diversity in Singapore as they later on develop their unique perspective, belief and practices.
