On May 3rd, author Michael Tougias came to Masco. He is a New York Times bestselling author of over 30 books for adults and 7 books for children and young adults. He spoke about what it's like to be an author, and to research for nonfiction. His books had many science and ELA tie-ins to our curriculum, and even included local history, and primary sources. His book The Finest Hours (which was also adapted for young readers and made into a Disney movie), was the focus of the presentation, and an inspirational story of heroism against impossible odds.
