What If It’s Us
May Book Review By: Delaney Ogden
What If It’s Us, by Adam Silvera and Becky Albartelli, is a rom-com that follows the love story of Arthur and Ben. Arthur is in New York for the summer doing an internship at his mom’s law firm. While out running an errand for his boss, Arthur runs into Ben at the post office. Though neither of them guessed, that interaction would change their lives forever. This interaction would set them on a journey to find eachother again. Once they find each other, they spiral into a relationship full of uncertainty, because in just a few months Arthur would be leaving New York. Will they stay together? Or will their relationship break to pieces before our very eyes?
I loved this book so much. Before I was even half way through it, I already knew that it would be one of my favorite books. I have to say, this book overcame Magnus Chase on my list of favorites, a title that I loved for YEARS! These characters were just so easy to fall in love with, and I loved that it was so easy to connect with all of them, so all of them felt like real people. I personally was not expecting to enjoy this book when I picked it up. One of the authors, Adam Silvera has written other books that I didn’t really like at all (They Both Die At The End), so I was a bit hesitant to pick it up, but alas my curiosity won and I could never be more happy.
I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies. I’d also strongly recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for LGBTQ+ representation on their bookshelf. Even if you aren’t really into reading, I think this book could help you get into reading. I also found that this book made a fantastic post MCAS read, as it isn’t really a heavy book and can just let you reset after testing.
