24‑inch computer‑controlled cutting plotter
Designed for vinyl, heat‑transfer material, stencil film, and other thin flexible media
Ideal for: signage, decals, labels, apparel graphics, masks for painting/etching, and precision stencil work
Supports contour cutting when paired with compatible software
General Member Use
with basic training
Members must supply their own vinyl or specialty media
Blade replacement and calibration handled only by the Area Lead
Inspect the machine:
Ensure the pinch rollers are clean and positioned correctly
Verify the cutting strip is not damaged
Check that the blade holder is seated properly
Confirm your file is:
Vector format (SVG, AI, EPS, PDF with vector paths)
Lines set to hairline / 0.001” for cutting
Use the dedicated workstation with the correct cutting software installed
Loading Media
Lift pinch rollers before inserting vinyl
Align vinyl straight using the front guide marks
Lower pinch rollers onto the grit rollers — not the gaps
Run a short feed test to ensure straight tracking
Blade & Pressure
Blade depth should be set so it only cuts the vinyl, not the backing
Use test cuts to dial in:
Force
(cut pressure)
Speed
Offset
(important for sharp corners)
During Cutting
Stay near the machine — vinyl tracking issues can ruin long jobs
Watch for:
Lifting edges
Vinyl skew
Excessive blade noise (indicates too much blade exposure)
After Cutting
Use the weeding tools provided at the workstation
Trim your finished piece using the cutting mat
Remove your vinyl roll if you brought your own
Clean up scraps — vinyl bits travel everywhere
Approved:
Standard adhesive vinyl
Heat‑transfer vinyl (HTV)
Stencil film
Masking film
Thin Mylar sheets (depending on thickness)
Not approved:
Thick plastics
Cardstock
Anything rigid or brittle
Materials that shed fibers or dust
Cuts too deep / gouging backing
Reduce blade exposure, lower force
Cuts not deep enough
Increase force slightly, check blade sharpness
Corners not clean
Adjust blade offset
Vinyl skewing
Reposition pinch rollers, ensure even pressure
Jagged cuts
Replace blade (volunteer‑only task)
Do not adjust internal calibration menus unless trained
Never force the blade holder — it’s delicate
Keep the workstation clean and free of vinyl scraps
Report tracking issues or worn cutting strips immediately
