This orientation ensures members can safely and successfully operate our Bambu Labs 3D printers. Completion of this orientation is required before using any of the printers.
Printers: 2× Bambu A1 (with AMS), 1× A1 Mini, 1× P1S
Filament: Bambu PLA only (to maintain reliability and reduce maintenance)
Slicing Workstations: Two stations running Bambu Studio
Filament Storage: Dedicated cabinet with labeled PLA spools
Post‑Processing Tools: Scrapers, flush cutters, files, deburring tools
Never leave a print unattended until the first layer is confirmed successful.
Keep hands clear of moving parts.
Do not open the printer door or AMS during operation unless necessary.
Report any unusual noises, failed prints, or error messages.
Clean up your workspace after use.
To keep maintenance low and ensure consistent results:
Only Bambu PLA is permitted.
No ABS, PETG, TPU, nylon, or third‑party filaments.
Members needing specialty materials should coordinate with experienced members who have home printers.
If you are changing filament colors, please follow the Filament Spool Handling & Color Changes procedure.
If you are changing spools for any reason, please follow the Standard Refill Procedure.
A1 with AMS: Best for multi‑color prints or general use.
A1 Mini: Small, fast, ideal for single‑color prints.
P1S: Enclosed, stable, excellent for functional PLA parts.
Import your model (.STL, .3MF).
Select the correct printer profile.
Choose Bambu PLA as the filament.
Use recommended presets unless you have a specific need.
Check for model issues using the built‑in analysis tools.
Verify the printer is idle.
Load filament if needed.
Send the sliced file via Wi‑Fi or SD card.
Open the printer’s job list.
Confirm filament type and color.
Start the print.
Stay until the first layer is complete.
Watch for adhesion issues.
If the print lifts or smears, cancel immediately.
Do not adjust the printer unless necessary.
Avoid bumping the table or enclosure.
Monitor AMS filament changes (A1 models).
If a failure occurs, cancel the print and clean the bed.
Allow the bed to cool before removal.
Use the provided scraper carefully to lift the part.
Remove any leftover filament or debris.
Wipe the bed if needed.
Close the AMS and printer doors.
Poor first layer: Re‑clean the bed; check for grease or dust.
Stringing: Use PLA preset; ensure filament is dry.
Warping: Re‑level bed; increase first‑layer temperature.
Under‑extrusion: Check filament path and AMS loading.
Follow all guidelines posted in the 3D printing area.
Respect the queue and shared equipment.
Ask for help if unsure about a setting or procedure.
Keep the area clean and organized.
Members must demonstrate:
Ability to slice a model correctly.
Understanding of how to change filament spools.
Understand how to clean and maintain the printer beds.
Proper first‑layer monitoring.
Safe removal and cleanup.
Understanding of material restrictions.
Once completed, members may use any of the Bambu printers independently.
