This checklist is used for all restricted tools at Loveland CreatorSpace. A member is authorized once all items below are completed with an Area Lead, Instructor, or Board Member, and the Director has updated their fob permissions.
1. Tool Introduction
Member understands what the tool does and its typical use cases.
2. Safety & PPE Review
Member can identify hazards, pinch points, prohibited actions, and required PPE.
3. Startup, Shutdown & Emergency Procedures
Member demonstrates safe power‑on, power‑off, and knows what to do if something goes wrong.
4. Tool Setup Demonstration
Member shows correct preparation: clamps, jigs, materials, software, alignment, etc.
5. Supervised Operation
Member performs a safe, successful operation under supervision.
6. Cleanup & Tool Care
Member cleans the area, disposes of waste properly, and stores accessories or materials.
7. Rules & Limitations Acknowledgment
Member confirms understanding of posted rules, access limitations, reservations (if applicable), and any tool‑specific restrictions.
8. Fob Permission Update
Director adds authorization to the member’s fob once all steps are complete. (for tools that require fob access)
Area Leads and Instructors use this as the standard for all restricted tools. They will obviously go into more detail on the specific tool, but these are the areas to be covered.
Members can review it before training to know what to expect.
The Director uses it as the basis for granting fob access.
