Mechanics 10 Introductory (3 credits)
Course content includes: MEC1015, Mechanics Tools and Materials, MEC1020, Vehicle Service and Care, MEC1110 Pneumatics and Hydraulics. Maintenance, repair procedures, safe handling of hand and power tools and safe operation of shop equipment (hoist, tire changer and balancer) will be focused on. This is an introductory course only and does not meet prerequisite requirements for advancement to intermediate mechanics courses. 5 credits Mechanics 10 must be completed to advance to Mechanics 20-5.
There is a $35 fee for this course which covers the cost of overalls and a pair of safety glasses.
Mechanics 10 Introductory (5 credits)
Course content includes Mechanics Tools and Materials, Ride and Control, Vehicle Service and Care, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, and Engine Fundamentals. Maintenance, repair procedures, safe handling of hand and power tools and safe operation of shop equipment (hoist, tire changer and balancer) will be focused on.
There is a $50 fee for this course which covers the cost of overalls and a pair of safety glasses.
Mechanics 20 Intermediate (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Success completion of the 105 introductory Course Credits
Course content includes Vehicle Maintenance, Braking Systems, Suspension Systems, Steering Systems and Wheel Alignment. Course will focus on diagnosis and repair of vehicle systems (tires, wheels, bearings, brake systems, steering/suspension systems, wheel alignment and recommended vehicle maintenance procedures). Proper tightening specification and data research will be covered.
There is a $30 fee for this course not including the cost of overalls and a pair of safety glasses.
Mechanics 30 Advanced (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of the 5 Intermediate Course Credits
Course content includes Lubrication and Cooling, Engine Diagnosis, Tune-Up, Engine Reconditioning (Head) and Engine Reconditioning (Block). Course will focus on engine tune-up, analysis and repair, engine lubrication and cooling systems, engine overhaul procedures, starting/charging systems, emission controls, ignition system diagnosis and repair.
