Chemistry 20 (5 credits)
Recommended Prerequisite 65% in Science 10
The units of study are: The Diversity of Matter and Chemical Bonding, Forms of Matter: Gases, Matter as Solutions, Acids and Bases, and Quantitative Relationships in Chemical Changes.
Chemistry 30 (5 credits)
Recommended Prerequisite 65% in Chemistry 20
The units of study are: Thermochemical changes, Electrochemical changes, Chemical Changes of Organic Compounds, and Chemical Equilibrium Focusing on Acid-Base Systems.
Chemistry 20 AP (5 credit)
Recommended Prerequisite 65% in Chemistry 20
The units of study are: Thermochemical changes, Electrochemical changes, Chemical Changes of Organic Compounds, and Chemical Equilibrium Focusing on Acid-Base Systems.
Prerequisite: 75% in Chemistry 20 AP
Chemistry 30 AP covers the same material as Chemistry 30 and is assessed at the regular Chemistry level. Some additional topics are introduced as simple anchor points to help set the stage for the Chemistry 35 AP course. Students registering in Chemistry 30 AP must also register in Chemistry 35 AP. The units of study are: Thermochemical Changes, Electrochemical Changes, Chemical Changes of Organic Compounds, and Chemical Equilibrium Focusing on Acid-Base Systems. It is an expectation that students will be writing the AP exam in May after they complete Chemistry 35 AP.
Chemistry 35 AP (3 credits)
Prerequisite: 75% in Chemistry 30 AP
This course completes the Advanced Placement Chemistry curriculum. Combined with the Chemistry 20 AP and Chemistry 30 AP, the curriculum covers and is designed as an equivalent to an introductory college/university chemistry course. Students registering in Chemistry 35AP must also register in Chemistry 30AP. The units of study are Reaction Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry in nonstandard conditions, and Buffer and Solubility Equilibria. It is an expectation that students will be writing the AP exam in May.
