Learning Hub
The Our Lady of the Rockies Learning Hub is a unique service provided to all students who request additional support in their classes. The growth of the Learning Hub is reflected in the high degree of academic success of our students. During the day students can drop into the Learning Hub and work with the support of teachers and assistants as they progress through their courses. They can also access the Learning Hub when they require specific accommodations on exams, quizzes or assignments. The Learning Hub is open to all students who are looking for a quiet space to work or the opportunity to access technology.
Learning Strategies 15 (5 credits)
This course explores learning strategies and helps students become better, more independent learners while increasing their personal management skills, both in school and in other contexts. Students will learn how to develop and apply a range of strategies to improve their learning and achievement, particularly their literacy, numeracy, communication, and planning skills. This course will increase students’ confidence, motivation, and ability to learn. Placement in this course is based on student need as there are limited spots available.
Learning Strategies 25 (5 credits)
This course improves students’ learning skills, for continued academic success in high school and in preparation for successful transitions to work and post-secondary education. Students will learn how to assess their learning abilities and use critical reading, time management, and other techniques for promoting effective learning. In addition, they will investigate learning requirements for employment and post-secondary education or training. Placement in this course is based on student need as there are limited spots available.

This course improves students’ learning skills, preparing them to make successful transitions to work and post-secondary education and become independent, lifelong learners. Students will learn how to assess their learning abilities and use critical reading, time management, and other techniques for promoting effective learning. In addition, they will investigate learning requirements for employment and post-secondary education or training and develop plans for learning after secondary school. Placement in this course is based on student need as there are limited spots available.
