Mathematics 10C Honours (5 credits)
Recommended Prerequisite: 75% in Grade 9 Math
This program is designed for students wishing to write the Advanced Placement Examination in their grade 12 year. Students do NOT write an Advanced Placement exam in grade 10 but do write the final exam common to all Math 10C students. Students registering in the AP program should be highly motivated and have an interest and aptitude in math. The course covers all the objectives of Mathematics 10C as outlined by Alberta Learning with some higher-level questioning and additional topics from a higher-level Math (Mathematics 20-1).
Mathematics 20-1 AP (5 credits)
Prerequisite: 75% in Math 10 Honours
This stream is intended for highly motivated and capable students. This course is like Mathematics 20-1, with some higher-level questioning and additional topics from a higher-level Math (Math 30-1) Graphing calculators will be used to solve problems and develop concepts.
Mathematics 30-1 AP/Math 31 AP (10 credits)
Prerequisite: 75% in Math 20-1 AP
This stream is intended for students who intend on pursuing post-secondary studies in a math. The contents of Math 30-1 will be taught over two semesters. The accelerated pace of the course will allow for the study of supplementary material.
Math 31 AP varies significantly from Math 31. The application of derivatives and integrals is studied in greater depth. The pre-calculus component introduced in Math 20-1 AP is continued with limits, asymptotic and unbounded behaviour, and continuity as a property of functions. The Math 31 AP exam is administered in May, and the Math 30-1 diploma exam will be written in June.
