This course will offer an introduction to several topics associated with athletic therapy, such as First Aid, CPR, training foundations, health service injury management, muscular skeletal system and the role of the high school trainer. Practical labs allow students to treat injuries using tape, splints, ice, etc. The fee for the program includes a resource manual, athletic training supplies, and completion of Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.

Prerequisite: Athletic Therapy 20, 5 Course Credits
This course is a continuation of the Athletic Therapy 20 program, with a continued emphasis on the role of the athletic trainer working with at least one sports team at Our Lady of the Rockies. Emphasis will be placed on injury management, biomechanics, and mental health. An advanced taping course will be offered as well as a re-certification in CPR. The fee for this program covers the costs of first aid supplies, CPR re-certification and field trips.

Prerequisite: Athletic Therapy 10, 5 Course Credits
This course is a continuation of the introductory athletic therapy. Areas of study include: nutrition for recreation activities and sport, injury management and mentorship. Students will be expected to fulfill a practicum experience, outside of regular school hours, with one of the school’s teams or one in the community. Hours are flexible. The fee for this program covers the cost of resources, CPR re-certification and field trips.
