All grade 10 Cosmetology classes are five credits. However, the 20 and 30 level classes are open to either 5 credits or 10 credits (single or double period blocks) Students can progress using just single period enrollment or they can sign up for Cosmetology all afternoon, which opens their opportunities for working with chemicals services as well as clients.
This level of Cosmetology introduces students to the impact verbal and nonverbal communication has on personal and professional success. It delves into apprenticeship Safety, Long Hair Design and Client Consultation and Draping. Students explore some of the reversible fundamentals of the trade. There is a $40 fee for this course.
Prerequisite – Cosmetology 10
This level of Cosmetology builds on prior knowledge of students, while opening new learning to non-reversible work such as hair cutting and the theory of hair colouring. Learners become exposed to Skin Care, Hair Analysis, and Work Environments. All above courses are one credit each. There is a $90 fee for this course.
This course is paired back-to-back with Cosmetology 20. Example: period 3 and period 4, in order to provide a continuous time block. This allows students to experience authentic learning through cause-effect of applied learning by merging theory with practical knowledge. Students will work directly with clients or use chemicals on mannequins. Clipper Cutting, Various Haircuts, Setting Wet Hair, Hair Wrapping 1 & 2, Colouring Hair 2, and Make Up are some of the courses offered to 10 credit students. There is a $105 fee for this course.
Prerequisite – Cosmetology 21
In addition to the Cosmetology 30 outcomes listed above, students enrolled in the 10-credit course will have the opportunity to do chemical work such as highlights and perms. They may also deal directly with clients as part of their curriculum outcomes. There is a $60 fee for this course.
Prerequisite – Cosmetology 20
At the senior level, students are deepening their knowledge and refining their skills within this CTS program. Many students begin to find their area of strength and passion, and at this level there is more independence to delve into areas of interest while adhering to the flow of prerequisite knowledge and skills. Ideally, students will learn Razor Cutting & Shearing Cutting, Customizing Techniques, Facial and Nape Hair Trimming and Removal, and Updo Styling Techniques are some of the areas covered with students at the senior level. There is a $45 fee for this course.
