The Ant Link Project is an international collaborative research initiative between Okinawa Prefectural Kyuyo High School and the Ongkharak Demonstration School (ODS) of Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand. Through a comparative study on biodiversity and environmental indicators using ants as a research focus, this project aims to foster scientific literacy, inquiry skills, global awareness, and collaboration among high school students from Japan and Thailand.
Kyuyo High School has been designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) in its third phase, and this project plays a central role in advancing both our "Advanced Inquiry Program" and "Global Inquiry Program."

・August 18 (Mon) – 26 (Tue): Ant Link in Okinawa
Five students and one accompanying teacher from Thailand will visit our school. They will conduct joint ant research together with members of our Biology Club.
Tottori Prefectural Yonago Higashi High School
Designated as a Super Science High School (SSH)
The aim of this collaborative research is to use ants—familiar insects in our daily lives—as a model to compare and analyze their diversity and distribution in different natural environments, such as those in Japan (Okinawa) and Thailand. Through this process, students will explore the significance of using ants as environmental indicators.
Ants are known to respond sensitively to environmental changes, making them globally recognized as bioindicators for assessing ecosystem health. In the Ant Link Project, field surveys are conducted in various habitats such as forests, parks, and grasslands, in order to clarify the relationship between local biodiversity and environmental factors.
By actively engaging in all stages of the research process—from ant collection and identification to data analysis, discussion, and presentation—students cultivate scientific inquiry skills and gain firsthand experience of the value of international collaborative research.
