Workshop Description:
In this workshop, we aim to define inclusion in the development process by considering curriculum, digital technology, and pedagogical approaches. Our focus is on adopting an inclusive design approach to foster the development of inclusive educational products. Through interactive sessions, we will explore ways to contextualize existing technologies and educational approaches, aiming to redesign or reform them to better cater to students with diverse abilities. The intended audience includes educators, school directors, and administrators, fostering collaboration and ideation for creating a more inclusive learning environment.
Learner Outcomes:
- Understanding of current practice and consideration of inclusion in the classroom from different educators experience
- Suggested and ideas of solutions and (if possible) some low fidelity prototype of improved model, tools, and design of existing everyday's education essentials that have been improved through inclusion lens.
- Collective input of how to make school, education platform, tools be more accessible to all.
Presenters:
Chansocheata POUM is an an ed-tech founder and engineer based in Cambodia. She founded SNOOPEDU Education, a company dedicated to catalyzing digital transformation in Cambodia's education. Through initiatives such as coding classes, community programs, curriculum development, and teacher professional development, her company actively addresses the evolving educational landscape in Cambodia. Rooted in her engineering background and academic exploration in human-computer interaction, Chansocheata's commitment to inclusion is evident in her endeavors. Her work extends to enhancing both physical and virtual learning experiences, creating environments that foster engaging and practical STEM education.
Dr. Daavid Vaananen has worked with various educational and research institutions globally, focusing on development of inclusive environments and individual empowerment. With the Humanistic Co-design initiative he has supported human-centric innovative assistive technology development through interactive inclusive design workshops. For the past 5 years he has lived in Cambodia. Among others, he has supported the inauguration of the New Generation Pedagogical Research Center, based at the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh, and contributed to the establishment of the center's research agenda. His work continues to bridge the gaps between technology-driven solutions and human-driven activities to help improve quality of life for all.
