Maundene Weekly

Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been wonderful to have the children back for this academic year. The children have settled extremely well into their new classes and across the school they are already enthused in their learning.
On Wednesday, the children in Year 1 explored their new text, The Lonely Beast and were extremely excited to make predictions about how the beast was feeling in the image on the frontcover. The children in Year R settled into their new classrooms so well and focused on learning the names of others. We are so proud of them!
On Thursday, the children in Year 2 explored their new text, Island Born and they made new predictions about what they thought the book would be about. The children in Year R investigated the provision within their classroom and discussed the school rules and Zones of Regulation. In Year 5, the children throughly enjoyed their geography learning about Indonesia and had the opportunity to participate in discussions about different places around the world using maps.
Today the children in Year 1 were sorting objects in maths and use mathematical vocabulary to sort according to colour, size and shape. In Year 3, the children were exploring addition and subtraction calculations in their maths lessons and they used number lines to support them. As part of their English learning, Year 4 were discussing and exploring features of a narrative. The children looked at an example of a narrative and highlighted key features that they felt were important. Year 6 had an exciting art lesson in the afternoon on Friday where they created mood boards about Kim Guthrie, their focus artist for the term.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
