Dear Parents/Carers,
What a busy week it has been!
On Monday, Year R had a very special visit from John the Beekeeper. The children were fascinated as they learned even more about the important role bees play in our environment. John brought along some of his beekeeping equipment, and the children enjoyed getting a closer look at how honey is made. Of course, one of the highlights was getting to taste some delicious honey – a real treat!
On Wednesday, it was SPORTS DAY and what a fantastic day it was! All of the children across the school took part with great enthusiasm and energy. Despite the heat, they showed incredible determination, teamwork and true sportsmanship throughout the day. A huge thank you to Mr White and his team for their brilliant organisation of the event. The children participated in a wide range of activities, from obstacle courses to relays, before finishing with some exciting track races.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the adults who came along to FUDGE lunches and to Sports Day. Your support and presence meant so much to the children – they were absolutely beaming to have you there cheering them on!
A big thank you, too, to the PTA for their ongoing support and for providing refreshments during Sports Day. It was greatly appreciated by everyone on such a warm day.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
We are hoping to create a small world area for the children in EYFS to play with. If you have any of the following, we would really appreciate it:
puppets
astroturf cuts off
mini fairy door
mini toadstools
little figures (people) or fairies
minibeasts
vehicles
animals
peg people
You will see in the diary below the planned "Meet the Teacher" meetings - these will be in the KS2 hall and will be a chance to have a brief presentation about your child's new teachers and year group. Children are welcome to attend but must be sitting with their adults and not running around or left on the playground. Please be aware that this is not a time to discuss your child on a one-to-one basis, if needed this will happen in September.
Well done to Scott in Ospreys on his swimming medals.
Well done to Robert in Finches for completing his rugby season.
Well done to Harper in Kingfishers for her gymnastics medal.
Developing strong oracy skills is crucial for children's success in school and beyond. It empowers them to express themselves confidently, think critically, and engage effectively with others. To support this vital skill, our weekly newsletter will feature fun and engaging oracy activities that families can enjoy together at home, fostering communication and building confidence in your children.
Activity:
Talk about your favourite food.
Use the following sentence stems to support your discussion:
