Maundene Weekly

Dear Parents/Carers,
This week the children have been working extremely hard across the school.
This week, Year R began their Forest School journey with boundless excitement. After a thorough introduction to the rules of safe play, they plunged into the woodland environment, discovering hidden corners and engaging in hands-on activities. The highlight, of course, was the exhilarating mud slide, which left them covered in smiles and mud alike. Their first Forest School experience was a resounding success, igniting their curiosity and building a foundation for future outdoor learning. They are already counting down the days until their next adventure after the Easter break!
During afternoon break times this week, Year 1 enjoyed scooter time, developing coordination and having fun. In addition to this, the children had a delightful afternoon sharing games and generational toy discussions with parents and grandparents on Friday (last week), contributing to their global learning outcome. Thank you to everyone who attended - the children had so much fun!
As part of their RHE learning, Year 2 focused on personal safety, learning about privacy and body autonomy through the NSPCC's Pantosaurus video. This lesson fostered a safe and open environment for discussion, equipping them with essential knowledge to protect themselves. Additionally, the children published their narrative which focused on their core text, The Invisible. They particularly focused on using a variety of verbs, adverbs, and expanded noun phrases to engage the reader.
Year 3 showcased their creative and academic progress with their RE double-page spreads. They demonstrated their understanding of religious concepts by using key religious vocabulary and showcased their artistic talents by adding any diagrams or images. Adding a sweet touch to their learning, they also enjoyed making and tasting Brigadeiro, a traditional Brazilian chocolate sweet, broadening their cultural horizons.
To finish their curriculum learning, Year 4 demonstrated their vocabulary and lesson linking skills through beautifully presented hexagonal double-page spreads, displaying their growing understanding and artistic flair.
Year 5 worked diligently on their published outcomes, showcasing their dedication and hard work throughout the term. Their final pieces reflected a culmination of their learning throughout the term, showcasing their growth and development. The dedication displayed by year 5 has been exceptional, and we are very proud of them.
Finally, Year 6 honed their collaborative problem-solving skills through shape reasoning activities. Working in teams, they discussed different methods, debated solutions, and arrived at answers together. This exercise not only strengthened their mathematical abilities but also fostered teamwork, communication, and critical thinking, essential skills for their transition to secondary school.
A huge thank you to @MaundenePTA for the fabulous Easter Egg Hunt! The children thoroughly enjoyed their activities and parading around in their Easter Bonnets - which looked fabulous by the way!
Our Junior Leadership Team participated in the Chartwells 'thumbs-up' campaign this week. The children tasted a variety of new proposed dishes for our Autumn
We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended the MANGO lunches this week. It means so much to the children to have their parents participate in school events. Your presence is truly appreciated!
We are incredibly proud of each year group's achievements and look forward to continued growth and learning next term.
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
We are thrilled to welcome Mrs McClelland back to school after her maternity leave. We are excited to have her return to inspire and engage the children once again.
Meanwhile, we extend an enormous thank you to Mrs Worthy for her exceptional work with the Ravens Class. Her commitment and incredible efforts have ensured a smooth and successful continuation of learning and we are immensely grateful for her dedication and the positive impact she has made.
Welcome back, Mrs. McClelland, and thank you, Mrs Worthy, for your amazing contribution!
Thank you for 20 YEARS OF SERVICE Mrs Lovell! Thank you for all of your hard work over the years - we appreciate everything you have done for the children, parents and community of Maundene. We hope you had a wonderful day celebrating!
If you could provide any of the following to our Reception Team, we would be so grateful:
Cable Drums (or if you know anyone who could provide them)
Measuring equipment (e.g. jugs, cylinders) for the children to use in water-based play
As a school, we are asking for you to be considerate when you are parking your cars at the beginning and the end of the school day.
Residents in the local area have been in touch with Medway Council to address the ongoing parking issues, particularly in Illustrious Close.
The Council has acknowledged receiving multiple tickets and reports about this problem from residents of the Close. Vehicles are being logged as 'nuisance vehicles' on their website, which is publicly accessible at https://www.medway.gov.uk/NuisanceVehicle.
Please be aware that if your vehicle is reported and appears on this map, there is a risk of it being towed if found parked illegally. The Council has also confirmed that camera cars are actively monitoring the area and may issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to offending vehicles.
