Maundene Weekly

Dear Parents/Carers,
This week we've seen incredible teamwork, creativity, and community spirit across all year groups!
Our little learners in Year R have been busy developing their bee garden! They've shown fantastic teamwork and collaboration skills while planting new flowers, creating a beautiful space for our buzzing friends. The children also had a blast exploring their imaginations with our new dressing-up outfits, engaging in imaginative role-play.
Year 1 embarked on a sensory journey, investigating different foods in their science lesson. They used their descriptive vocabulary to express their thoughts and shared their observations with their peers, creating a vibrant learning atmosphere.
As part of their global learning outcome, Year 2 became community heroes by volunteering to litter pick around our school. A huge thank you to Medway Council for providing the equipment to make this possible! We're proud of their commitment to keeping our environment clean.
Year 3 have been diligently planning their double-page spreads, focusing on the question: "What are the similarities and differences between the UK and Brazil?" They've been researching, brainstorming, and planning visuals, demonstrating excellent analytical and creative skills.
In RE, Year 4 explored how Sikhs demonstrate their values. They created insightful mind maps and values posters, showcasing their understanding of Sikh beliefs and practices.
Year 5's English lesson was a whirlwind of focused editing, thanks to a random generator! They honed specific skills by spinning the wheel and tackling whatever challenge it presented. In DT, they displayed fantastic teamwork while constructing Trojan horses.
Year 6 collaborated to explore the features of a biography. They analysed different texts and created a "must-have" list for their own writing, setting the stage for engaging storytelling.
A huge thank you to @MaundenePTA for the wonderful scooters gifted to KS1! The children are absolutely loving them!
We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended the MANGO lunches this week. It means so much to the children to have their parents participate in school events. Your presence is truly appreciated!
We hope you have a fabulous weekend,
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team
If you could provide any of the following to our Reception Team, we would be so grateful:
Cable Drums (or if you know anyone who could provide them)
Measuring equipment (e.g. jugs, cylinders) for the children to use in water-based play
We understand that sometimes parents would like to speak to the class teacher about their child but can we please ask that you try not to do this first thing in the morning as staff are busy settling and welcoming the children in to class - this also means if it does happen it may appear rushed and not personal.
Please try to do the followiing unless an emergency:
Catch the teacher at the end of the day
Speak to the office staff, Carla and Emma, who will pass a message on to the class teacher to call you
Email in to the school office which will then be passed on to the class teacher
Thank you for your support and understanding with this.

Developing strong oracy skills is crucial for children's success in school and beyond. It empowers them to express themselves confidently, think critically, and engage effectively with others.
