Dear Parents/Carers,
The finally week of term has been a busy one and the children absolutely loved ending the week with their COLOUR RUN! Thank you to the PTA for their amazing support with this event. The children loved every minute of it.
This week, the children in Reception were absolutely engrossed in their safari adventure! They've been having a fantastic time drawing vivid pictures and writing imaginative sentences about the exotic animals and landscapes they envision on a safari. We also welcomed Mike from Creepy Claws for an incredibly engaging session. Mike taught us so much about the fascinating creatures who call the jungle home, from their unique characteristics to their natural habitats. It was a truly captivating and memorable morning for everyone, sparking a real curiosity about the natural world!
Throughout their computing lesson this week, Year 1 children thoroughly enjoyed creating their very own stories on PurpleMash, unleashing their creativity in a digital format. It was wonderful to see their excellent relationship skills in action as they patiently helped each other with typing out their narratives and adding vibrant illustrations. Their collaborative spirit truly shone through as they brought their imaginative tales to life on screen.
Year 2 have been working incredibly hard this week, diligently tackling their SATs assessments. We are so proud of their focus and determination! To provide a well-deserved break and inject some joy into their learning, they also had a lot of fun practicing the lively "Rainbow Song" in their music lessons, filling the classroom with cheerful melodies.
During their PE lesson this week, Year 3 were incredibly busy and focused, honing their skills in Kwik Cricket. They dedicated their time to practice essential bowling, batting and fielding techniques. It was fantastic to observe how the children were really concentrating on their hand-eye coordination, demonstrating great effort and enthusiasm as they developed their sporting skills on the field!
Year 4 were absolutely thrilled to host their highly anticipated Learning Exhibition this week! It was a truly special occasion and they genuinely enjoyed having their parents visit the classroom to witness the incredible progress they've made this term. Each child was bursting with pride as they eagerly showcased their hard work and achievements within their English, History, and Art books. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who were able to attend and share in their children's learning journey – your support means so much to us!
This week in maths, Year 5 children worked collaboratively to represent complex maths questions in a multitude of different ways. They explored and applied various effective methods, including visual bar models, insightful part-whole models, clear number lines and precise formal methods. This approach helped them to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and tackle problems from multiple perspectives.
In their art lesson this week, Year 6 enjoyed immersing themselves in the creative world of collaging techniques. Inspired by the innovative works of artist Travis Bedel, they explored various methods of ripping and cutting different materials to create unique and textured pieces. Beyond their artistic endeavours, Year 6 children are also currently collaborating diligently to edit and refine their newspaper articles. They are demonstrating excellent teamwork, supporting each other to make insightful changes and significant improvements to their writing, ensuring their articles are polished and impactful.
We hope you have a wonderful half term. We will see you back to school on Monday 2nd June.

If you would like your child to be considered for a Medway grammar school they will need to sit the Medway Test (Medway's 11+).
A child can take the Medway Test whether they live in Medway or not.
If you live in Medway but are considering grammar schools in another area you’ll need to contact them and take their own version of the 11+ instead.
Registrations must be submitted between May 19th 2025 and closes on June 13th 2025.
Late registrations after the closing date cannot be considered.

Developing strong oracy skills is crucial for children's success in school and beyond. It empowers them to express themselves confidently, think critically, and engage effectively with others. To support this vital skill, our weekly newsletter will feature fun and engaging oracy activities that families can enjoy together at home, fostering communication and building confidence in your children.
